John Lithium – Psychic Negation now available!
The sound of enclosure. Disconnection. Your mind is vulnerable to unseen forces from within and without the aether. You need to protect yourself from the gnawing void. Psychic Negation.
The project has gone through various iterations over the years. The genesis of this project came through an album, titled “Psychic Negation”, which I released on Archive.org back in 2010. This released featured extremely PaulStretch processed ambient audio. People seemed to be interested in this sort of recording, so I soon recorded a sort of ‘sequel’ where I would remix the entirety of the recently released “Insomnia” album in a similar manner (this time using the native DAW sample stretching processes though, which results in varying degree of pitch shifting etc).
This version features updated source material from the 2020 remaster of the “Insomnia” album featuring 24-bit audio as well as adjusted mixing and mastering when appropriate, which ultimately helped bring several audio details that were originally somewhat buried in the mix.
This is minimalist industrial dark ambient, taking inspiration from Lustmord, Sleep Research Facility, and Controlled Bleeding’s “The Poisoner” album. Liner notes written at the time also mention influences from Arnold Böcklin and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
This One’s For You.
